This Original 6 blue knit Turn Back the Clock gamer by CCM was worn by Rick Wamsley during the 1991-92 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Wamsley in the 3rd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Wamsley made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with Les Habitants, his home for the first 4 years of his NHL career. Wamsley’s 1981-82 Rookie season saw him post the NHL’s 2nd best GAA at 2.75 GAA and he finished with the NHL’s 2nd best shutouts total. Wamsley captured the inaugural 1981-82 William M. Jennings Trophy, finished 6th in voting for the Calder Trophy and 5th in voting for the Vezina Trophy.
Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch. The Maple Leafs participated in the NHL’s Turn Back the Clock program and sparingly wore these Original 6 styled sweaters during the NHL’s 75th anniversary season. The game wear on this size 54 Goalie cut sweater is on the lighter side as would be expected, with Rick having joined the club in January 1992. These TBTC gamers have proven especially elusive through the years, with this being just the third example that we’ve had the pleasure to bring to auction. A beautiful TBTC style offering, complete with the NHL’s 75-year anniversary patch that comes to you directly from The Rick Wamsley Collection.
